Qatargas a Reliable Supplier of LNG to Our Customers Around the Globe

Doha, December 26 (QNA)- Qatargas Chief Executive Officer, Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani, has reinterated that the company is looking ahead and continue to enhance our safety record and uphold our status as a reliable supplier of LNG to our customers around the globe. In an address in a press releasse issued here on Monday on marking the QatarGas annual Town Hall meetings that provided an open forum for the staff to discuss with senior officials of the company the challenges facing them both at work and away, Chief Executive Officer, Qatargas Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani, said the annual event is aimed at reinforcing the open communications policy adopted by Qatargas at every level. "Through this forum, we seek to address any issues concerning our employees who are the cornerstone of our success. This is very crucial for us as we move ahead with our vision to become the world s Premier LNG Company by 2015," he said. The Qatargas Chief Executive Officer has urged the staff to keep up the safety record the company has achieved so far eight and half years of onshore operations with no lost time accident (LTA) and nine and half years of offshore operations without any LTA. "The year 2011 was a great year of accomplishments for us with several firsts including reaching the production capacity of 42 million tonnes per annum (MTA), together we ve created a big success story that we are all proud of. We have become one of the biggest contributors towards providing a stable income for the state of Qatar. This would not have been possible without the help and contribution of our staff, customers and shareholders. Looking ahead, we should continue to enhance our safety record and uphold our status as a reliable supplier of LNG to our customers around the globe," he said. Congratulating the staff for their hard work, commitment and dedication, Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chief Executive Officer, Qatargas said: "This is not the end of our journey. We ve many more miles to go and all of us are committed to ensure we are a responsible company maintaining the highest standards of safety, operating excellence and reliability. The day s events included an overview on the accomplishments of Qatargas during 2011 some of which included the start-up of LNG production from Train 7 in February, delivery of first Train 7 LNG cargo to India in March, signing of the Sales and Purchase Agreement with Centrica to supply LNG to the UK in April, completing eight years of onshore operations without any LTA in May, first LNG cargoes to Greece and Thailand in June, first Q-Max cargo to The Netherlands in August, and delivery of the first Q-Max cargo to China in November. During this year, Qatargas completed successful and safe planned maintenance on Trains 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Qatargas completed the Common Sulfur Project (CSP), accomplished significant works on its Jetty Boil Off Gas (JBOG) project, the Helium II Project, and the onshore engineering, procurement and construction works for the Plateau Maintenance Project (PMP). The Laffan Refinery s phase 2 Front End Engineering Design Contract (FEED) is currently is expected to be complete by end of First Quarter of 2012. During the meetings, employees from all departments have put forward their suggestions, asked questions and openly communicated on a wide range of issues. It is worth to mention that Qatargas was established in 1984, and pioneered the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) industry in Qatar. Today, Qatargas, under the guidance of Minister of Energy & Industry of the State of Qatar and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Qatargas HE Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Sada, has the largest LNG production capacity in the world, of 42 million tonnes per annum (MTA) and is realising its vision to deliver LNG to its customers around the globe, from its world-class facilities in Qatar. Qatargas has seven LNG trains, of which four are the largest in the world known as mega trains - each with a production capacity of 7.8 MTA. The Qatargas vision is, by 2015 to be the world s premier LNG Company, known for its people, innovation, operating excellence, environmental responsibility and corporate citizenship. Since the establishment of Qatargas 1, it has completed a successful expansion programme that has included the development of Qatargas 2; Qatargas 3 and Qatargas 4 projects; Laffan Refinery, a dedicated fleet of ships, and an LNG Receiving Terminal. Qatargas operates these trains and the offshore as well as the Laffan Refinery, the Common Sulphur facilities, the Common Lean LNG (CLLNG), the Common LPG (CLPG) and the Common Condensate Storage & Loading (CCSL) projects on behalf of all project owners.
