Qatar, Japan Mark 40th Anniversary of Reciprocating Diplomatic Representation
Qatar and Japan are taking their friendship to a new level. Next year will witness a series of monthly events and community activities through a new initiative by both sides called Qatar Japan 2012.
Qatar and Japan have been major trade and business partners, however, in recent years their friendship has expanded into new areas such as: education, culture and technology. Key to the relationship is mutual respect and support, as was evident following this year s tragic tsunami when Qatar contributed and supported reconstruction efforts.
Qatar Japan 2012 will highlight these ties through a year-long series of cultural, sporting and business events that will promote mutual awareness and appreciation of history, achievements and heritage. Various activities are planned in both countries and so far include: exhibitions, educational exchange programs, fashion shows, friendly football matches, and business forums.
The first event for Qatar Japan 2012 will be "Murakami Ego" an exhibition by renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami in Doha Qatar from 9th February 24th June 2012.
Organizers of Qatar Japan 2012 initiative are: Qatar Museums Authority, the Ministry of Culture in Qatar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar, the Embassy of Japan in Qatar, and the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Japan. In addition, the initiative is supported by several contributing partners who play key roles in business and culture.

We look forward to a fruitful year of cooperation with all partners to celebrate our friendship and respective cultures."
