S. Korea to take 'necessary' measures to tackle dollar shortage problem
SEOUL, Sept. 30 (Yonhap) -- The response here to the U.S. failure in endorsing an
emergency rescue plan for financial markets is too much "sensitive" and the South
Korean government will take "necessary" measures to ease concerns over liquidity
problem in the foreign currency market, Finance Minister Kang Man-soo said
Tuesday.
Kang made the comments at a hastily-arranged press conference as the local stock
and currency markets tumbled, spooked by the overnight failure by the U.S.
Congress to pass the long-awaited US$700 billion bail-out package that many
observers expect to save its staggering financial markets.
