Apartment gas explosion kills two in central S. Korea

CHEONGJU, South Korea, Sept. 29 (Yonhap) -- At least two people were confirmed
dead after a suspected gas explosion at an apartment building in central South
Korea on Monday, police said.

The blast occurred on the 11th floor of the apartment building in Cheongwon in
North Chungcheong Province. The explosion damaged about 20 cars after destroying
glass on the third through 11th floors of the building, but how the explosion
happened was not immediately known.
A woman in her 90s and another woman in her 50s, both residents of the 11th
floor, died in the 8:50 p.m. accident.
Police are looking into what caused the blast, with eyewitnesses saying they
heard a big bang and saw the floor spewing flames at the time of the accident.
