IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO AVOID ACCIDENTS, SAYS M'SIAN PM
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said avoiding accidents and turning the road into a safe place during the festive season is not an impossible task.
In his special road safety message in conjunction with Aidilfitri, he said
motorists returning to their home town for the festive celebration should not be
selfish when driving.
"Before starting the journey, ensure that the vehicle is in good condition,
put on the seat belts for both the front and back passengers to protect the
family in case of emergency, and follow traffic regulations.
"It is important that one should not be selfish or reckless when driving.
It is not wrong for us to drive courteously and to be tolerant for the sake of
mutual safety," he said.
For those using public transport, Abdullah reminded them to purchase their
tickets from the authorised counters to avoid being cheated by unscrupulous
groups.
The Prime Minister reminded public transport operators, especially express
buses, to ensure that their vehicles were always in good condition and not to
make hefty profits at the expense of public safety.
