Bangkok floods almost dry out
BANGKOK, December 15 (TNA) - Floodwater hitting some parts of Bangkok since early October has almost dried out, as water levels of major rivers in both eastern and western sides of the capital have been receding by 5-7 centimetres a day.
Bangkok Governor M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra said Thursday floodwater has remained only on some sub-roads and about 30 communities, but it has no longer disrupted people’s normal life or traffic.
M.R. Sukhumbhand acknowledged that the 30 low-lying communities are mostly located beyond the city’s floodwalls, including Bang Khen, Khan Na Yao, Bang Khae and Thawiwattana Districts, with floodwater levels ranging from 5-20 centimeters.
According to the governor, all flooded areas in the Thai capital should be dried out by the upcoming New Year festival. (TNA)
