ISKANDAR INVESTMENT TO SHOWCASE ISKANDAR MALAYSIA AT CITYSCAPE DUBAI

DUBAI, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB), the investment arm and developer within Iskandar Malaysia, will be attending next month's Cityscape Dubai property and real estate show for the first time.

The event will enable IIB to showcase its unique offerings to
investors
from the Gulf region.

"As Islamic states, the Gulf Cooperation Council(GCC) countries and
Malaysia share similar investment values and principles. Cityscape Dubai is
the most appropriate venue for IIB to make its presence known in the Arabian
Gulf," said IIB managing director, Arlida Ariff.

Three times the size of Singapore, Iskandar Malaysia in southern peninsular
Malaysia, spans over 2,217 square kilometres and is a mixed use development
planned for completion in 2025.

The expected investment of US$110 billion in Iskandar Malaysia is split
between an initial start-up of US$13 billion from 2006-2010 and another US$97
billion from 2011-2025.

"With areas under development such as an Islamic banking hub in conjunction
with sustainable development as well as commercial, educational, and residential
areas, Iskandar Malaysia provides an unique and truly global investment
opportunity for interested parties in the region," Arlida said in a statement.

IIB's primary goal is to seek world-class investors to bring best practice
to the development.

IIB will be present at Cityscape with its partners, regional heavy hitters
such as the Mubadala Development Company, Kuwait Finance House and Millennium
Development International Company.

"Iskandar Malaysia is the next big thing in Southeast Asia, offering
long-term investment opportunities that appeal to an international
audience," said Arlida of the project.

Iskandar Malaysia is fully supported by the Malaysian government which is
offering special incentives to investors such as tax breaks, ease of talent
recruitment, a waiver of foreign ownership restrictions and business facilitated
though a regulatory authority, the statement said.

Considering its proximity to major transportation centres such as the Port
of Tanjung Pelepas and Pasir Gudang Port in the state of Johor, Singapore's
Changi Airport, and the local Senai Airport also in Johor, Iskandar Malaysia is
in the hub of Aseans's trade triangle.

It can effectively handle the anticipated trade boom resulting from the
rapid and dynamic growth expected in the coming years.

Within easy reach of a growing market of three billion people, the region's
geographical position at the cross-roads of east-west trade lanes and midway
between the emerging markets of India and China, makes it a strategic location.
