Qatar Foundation Organizes Forum on Identity Preservation
Doha, December 12 (QNA) - On the occasion of Qatar National Day, Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development will organize "National Day 2011" forum on Wednesday and Thursday under the title of "Youth Between The Challenges of Globalization and The Preservation of Identity."
A selection of academicians and scholars specialized in education, sociology and media will take part in the forum where they will discuss dangers threatening child's cultural identity in the contemporary society and ways of enhancing his identity and belongingness.
The forum that is set to be staged at Qatar National Convention Centre aims at achieving the principles of the work platform in order to preserve the national identity.
HE Minister of Justice Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim will inaugurate the forum by giving an opening speech before the first session begins. Qatar University Associate Professor Dr. Kaltham Ali Al-Ghanim will present a paper on Pillars of national identity and its importance in social cohesion followed by a paper by Al Jazeera Media Training and Development Center Director Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Horr on the role of identity in social cohesion.
"Identity preservation curriculum stems from and goes in line with the principles of Qatar National Vision 2030 where identity enhancement doesn't mean cultural closeness, pride in identity and heritage doesn't mean extremism and rejection of the other and raising the young generations has to be based on clear principles and objectives that respond to change and adhere to standards" a press release stated on behalf of Qatar Foundation.
