Newly appointed Hyundai Asan chief visits N. Korea
GOSEONG, South Korea, Sept. 29 (Yonhap) -- Cho Kun-shik, head of Hyundai subsidiary Hyundai Asan which heads a tour project in North Korea, visited the project site Monday for the first time since tours were halted after the July shooting death of a South Korean tourist at the North's mountain resort.
Cho crossed the border separating the two Korea's by car at around 11:10 a.m.
local time on his way to the Mount Kumgang site to encourage employees there and
to have a look around the resort, Hyundai Asan officials said.
Cho is not scheduled to meet with any North Korean officials during his trip, the
officials added.
The 56-year old former vice unification minister replaced Yoon Man-joon last
month as Hyundai Asan's top executive, after Yoon stepped down following the
shooting of the South Korean tourist by a North Korean soldier near the resort on
July 11.
