P.M's. message must have surprised Bush: Brinda

Ranchi, Sept 28 (PTI) C.P.I.(M.) politburo member Brinda Karat on Sunday said that U.S. President George Bush must had been surprised after hearing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that "people of India love him" as Bush himself was "struggling" to make Americans understand his foreign policy.

"At a time when Bush himself is unable to give replies to
his people on America's aggressive military-driven foreign
policy, the prime minister's words must have come as a
surprise to him," Karat said here at a press conference
ridiculing Singh's message at Washington that "Indians loved
Bush deeply".

"The Prime Minister should ask how many of Congress
leaders backed his message...Congress leaders should openly
come out with their approval to Singh's message," she said.

The Centre should take our party's message on the
activities of V.H.P. and Bajrang Dal seriously in the wake of
violence in Orissa and Karnataka, she said.

"We have written to Home Minister Shivraj Patil to take
action against V.H.P. and Bajrang Dal under sections of
prevention of unlawful activities. But so far there is no word
from the minister," she claimed.

On the party's preparations for the next general
elections, Karat said the C.P.I.(M.)'s strategy will be to
"expose" the U.P.A. government's "failure" in implementing its
common minimum programme. PTI PVR
