We expect Turkey to play a constructive role in the Mideast, says Indonesian President

BALI (A.A) - December 9, 2011 - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said Friday that they expected Turkey to play a constructive role in the Middle East.
President Yudhoyono received the Turkish Deputy Premier Bulent Arinc on Friday. Arinc was in Indonesia to attend the Fourth Bali Democracy Forum.
Eight Indonesian ministers attended the meeting between Yudhoyono and Arinc and discussed possible steps to increase the trade volume between Turkey and Indonesia.
Arinc informed Yudhoyono about the achievements of Turkish contractors in all corners of the world and made a request from Indonesia to give more opportunities to Turkish contractors.
Arinc also gave information to Yudhoyono on the Turkish defense industry.
Yudhoyono, in his part, said that they were pleased to see Turkey extending support to North Africa and the Middle East in the region's transition to democracy.
"We expect Turkey to play a constructive role especially in the case of Syria," Yudhoyono said.
Touching on the tsunami disaster in his country, Yudhoyono said that it was the Turks who rushed to Indonesia following the tsunami disaster.
"I have eaten the bread of Turkish volunteers who set up an oven in Aceh. It is not possible for me to forget this incident," Yudhoyono added.
