World Petroleum Congress Discusses Using Technology in the Energy Field

Doha, December 08 (QNA) - A plenary session on "Finding Energy Solutions through Innovation and Technology" was held here today as part of the 20th World Petroleum Congress, currently in session in Doha, to discuss the role of technology in preserving the environment and securing energy supplies. The session focused on the importance of using modern technology in the field of oil and gas industry in order to achieve the best exploitation of the natural resources that meet the needs of energy consumers. Speakers at the session stressed the importance of formulating appropriate legislations that encourages the investment in this industry, taking into account the environmental aspect in order to strengthen production while maintaining the safety of the community from an environmental perspective. The participants underlined that the observance of the environmental norms has become a major factor in light of the emergence of the issue of climate change, stressing the necessity of companies commitment to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide in their production processes in order to serve the sustainable development of their countries.
