Saudi Arabia executes $3 million aid project in Afghanistan

Riyadh, September 28, SPA -- In implementation of the directives of
the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al
Saud to alleviate sufferings of Afghan people as a result of severe
shortages of foodstuffs, Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Interior
Minister, the General Supervisor of the Saudi Committee for the
Relief of Afghan People, has directed the Committee to execute a
project for providing food baskets worth $ 3 million to be
distributed at the affected areas in Afghanistan in collaboration
with the World Food Program.

This aid comes in response to the joint appeal launched by the
Afghan Government and the United Nations to provide food aid to the
needy in Afghanistan in the light of hike in food prices around the
world and the lack of production and wide-spread drought.
