Doha to Host World Energy Cities Partnership's AGM Tuesday

Doha, December 03 (QNA) - The annual general meeting (AGM) of the World Energy Cities Partnership, an organization of 18 international cities that have a core focus on energy, will begin here on Tuesday. The Doha city's delegation to the meeting will be headed by director of the municipality Ahmed Mohamed Al Sayid. The city of Doha joined the WECP in October 2009 during the general meeting that was held in Calgary, Canada. A coordination office to oversee the membership of the city of Doha in WECP had been formed and includes a liaison officer from the municipality as general coordinator and members representing Ministry of Energy and Industry, Qatar Petroleum, Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Business and Trade, Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The AGM is coinciding with the World Petroleum Congress. During the AGM, WECP members have the opportunity to learn and share knowledge with one another. The AGM is also an opportunity to make business and academic connections through WECP networking events that complement the meeting. During the 2011 AGM, the Board of Directors will elect a new President and Vice President, the location of the 2012 AGM as well as induct the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as the newest members of the partnership.
