Cabinet, armed forces leaders give oaths on Thai King's birthday
BANGKOK, December 3 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Friday led her Cabinet members, armed forces chiefs and senior state and government officials in giving their oaths at Bangkok's Government House on the occasion of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 84th birthday on December 5.
After singing the national anthem at 8 a.m., the prime minister led the Cabinet members, the military chiefs and the senior officials to pay respect to the portrait of His Majesty the King, lighted candle and then gave their oaths, pledging that they will perform their duties honestly and be the power of the nation.
At the Thai Parliament, House of Representatives Secretary-General Pitoon Poomhiran also led Parliament officials in giving their oaths.
Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha led Thai army officers in performing the similar oaths as well to display their loyalty to the beloved Thai monarch, who has worked untiringly for the nation and his subjects.
Meanwhile, Premier Yingluck will also receive a royal decoration, the Knight Grand Cross (First Class) of the Most Exalted Order of the White Elephant, bestowed upon her by His Majesty the King, after she took office as the new Thai prime minister in August, following country's general election on July 3.
