Turkey hopes Syria to decide in favor of democratic transformation, deputy premier says

ISTANBUL (A.A) - Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said on Thursday that Turkey hoped that Syrian regime would make a decision in favor of democratic transformation. Arinc answered questions of Arab journalists at the end of the Turkish-Arab Media Forum in Istanbul. Turkey could be damaged financially due to measures it took against Syria but Turkey would take the risk, he said.  Arinc said that Turkey supported decisions made by the Arab League regarding Syria. Turkey would not cut off water and electricity supplies to Syria, he said. Replying to a question on Turkish-Iranian relations, Arinc said that there was not any problem in relations between governments and parliaments of Turkey and Iran. Arinc said missile defense shield was a radar system, stating that Iran did not need to concern over this matter. Turkey attached a great importance to interests of Iran, he said. Answering a question on Turkish-Arab economic relations, Arinc said that there have been sound economic relations between Turkey and Arab countries for nine years.
