Qatar Exchange Index Drops 2.46 Points in November

Doha, December 01 (QNA) - Qatar Exchange dropped 2.46 points (0.03%) at the end of November when trading closed at 8,592.40 points Wednesday from 19 trading days compared to the month of October, according the bourse's monthly report. The market capitalization fell by 0.15% at the end of November 2011 to QR 449,819,910,956.67 compared to QR 450,488,382,867.54 at the end of the previous month which saw 22 days of trading activity. The trading value decreased by 25.15% closing at QR 4,095,166,154.60 in November compared to October's figure of QR 5,471,192,848.42. From the 42 listed companies 21 ended the month of November higher while 17 fell and four remained unchanged. Masraf Al Ryan topped the value of traded shares in November with QR 775,425,596.15 or 18.94% of the total value of all traded shares. Industries Qatar was second with QR 601,864,432 or 14.70% followed by Qatar National Bank with QR 478,452,416.50 or 11.68%. The trading volume decreased by 11.80% at 120,474,536 shares as against 136,597,163 shares while the number of transactions fell by 27.21% at 58,195 transactions compared to 79,949 transactions noted in October. The banking and financial sector led the traded value in November with 43.77% of the total traded value. Services sector accounted for 35.85% of the total trade, the industrial sector accounted for 19.02% and the insurance sector accounted for 1.37%. The services sector led trading volume during November with 52.35% of the total traded volume. Banking and financial sector accounted for 35.68%, the industrial sector accounted for 11.30% and the insurance sector accounted for 0.67%. The Qatari bourse's index peaked to 8,764.56 points mid-month on November 14 from 2,995 transactions with the traded volume being 5,453,126 shares valued at QR 226,489,245.48. Starting from the low of 8,529.29 points from 3,590 transactions with the traded volume being 8,021,263 shares valued at QR 274,051,692.10 at close on November 1st, the index gradually took an upward graph with renewed foreign interest as the month progressed. In terms of traded value the Qatari bourse saw a high of QR 377,051,391.16 from the month's maximum number of trades 4,946 on November 21. (QNA)
