HH the Emir to Attend the Opening Ceremony of Arab Games
Doha, Qatar November 27 (QNA) - Under the patronage of HH the Emir who will attend the Opening Ceremony, the 12th Arab Games, Doha 2011, will be inaugurated on Friday, December 9 and run until December 23, 2011. The Opening Ceremony will be staged in the Khalifa International Stadium.
The Organising Committee of the Arab Games, Doha 2011, indicated that the Opening Ceremony will feature various surprises and over 1,000 people will be involved in delivering the ceremony. High tech displays will be used for the first time in sport events opening ceremonies. The ceremony will be conducted by David Atkins Enterprises (DAE), one of the best known international teams of creative practitioners in global event production. Already familiar with Qatar, DAE was behind the opening ceremony of the 15th Asian Games, which took place in Doha in 2006. as well is in the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Sidney 2000 and the Winter Games in Vancouver last year.
"After tremendous hard work, we have finally reached the point when Doha is ready to welcome all Arab nations for a spectacular series of sporting and cultural events that celebrate the shared traditions of all Arab communities," said HE Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, President, AGOC, and Secretary General, QOC.
"The opening ceremony marks the beginning of Qatar s message to the Arab nations, that this year s Arab Games will bring together everything that Arab nations share and love from sports to live music, culture, and arts, featuring events and stunning performances representing different parts of the Arab world to entertain fans of all ages and nationalities," he added.
Tickets to the opening ceremony of Arab Games Doha 2011, scheduled to take place on December 9, 2011, are now available for sale on the official website of Arab Games Doha 2011 (http://www.arabgames2011.qa), and at Virgin Megastores in Landmark and Villaggio malls.
Tickets for the spectacular opening ceremony are priced at QAR 150 for Gold, QAR 100 for Silver, and QAR 50 for Bronze tickets.
For games time, full-day ticketing packages for families, groups of friends, and individuals, as well as single and sports fan packages will be available for purchasing on the official website of Arab Games Doha 2011, as well as at Virgin Megastores in Landmark and Villaggio malls. Selected packages include discounts on QOC and Arab Games merchandise, dining outlets, shopping, and car wash services, among others.
"We want to ensure that the upcoming Arab Games is accessible to all, and that is why AGOC has developed exciting ticketing packages for fans, as well as their friends and families," said Abdulla Al-Mulla, the official Spokesman and Media and Broadcasting Director in the AGOC Organising Committee.
"The opening ceremony will allow a glimpse into what Arab Games Doha 2011 has to offer to Qatar s residents and guests. It will be very special we promise," he affirmed.
Featuring 21 Arab nations, close to 30 sports, and 6,000 Arab athletes, Arab Games Doha 2011 will be hosted by Qatar for the first time from December 9-23, 2011. According to AGOC, the action-packed multisport event will enable Qatar to share its unrivalled experience to create a games of Olympic standards for the benefit of all Arab Nations and future Arab Games.
Qatar s world-class infrastructure and venues provide an ideal sporting environment for athletes to compete, and prepare themselves for international sporting events.
With a blazing trail of successful international sporting events, such as the Asian Games, IAAF World Indoors, Diamond League, Asian Cup, World Volleyball Championships, and WTA, Qatar plans to host the most accessible Arab Games to have taken place so far.
