Turkish President's Senior Adviser Stresses Depth of Qatari-Turkish Ties

Doha, November 27 (QNA) - Senior Adviser to the Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Arshad Hurmuzlua, stressed the depth of Qatari-Turkish relations, which exceeded the protocols and became a fraternal relations, pointing out that there are permanent contacts between the leaders in Qatar and Turkey. In an interview with Qatari daily (Al Sharq) issued today, Arshad said that the State of Qatar has a stable weight at the regional and international level that has been proven in the last period, stressing that there are a lot of bilateral consultations concerning political issues and matters that require the unification of attitudes. Regarding economic cooperation between the two countries, the Turkish official said that free trade agreements are very important in this area, both in terms of exports or services, noting to a free trade agreement be considered with the Gulf Cooperation Council. There are agreements to deliver Qatari gas to Turkey and then to Europe, so the processes that lead to the activation of these events between the Gulf states, especially Qatar, according to its great potential especially in natural gas, are very important and Turkey can also be active in this important activity, he added. On the Turkish position towards Syria; Arshad said that Ankara is ready to go in line with the Arab League and the International Community for any action to protect Syrian civilians, stressing the need to open safe corridors for humanitarian aid. Regarding Turkey's membership in the European Union, Turkish President's Senior Adviser said that they are seeking to join the EU through meeting the Copenhagen criteria by respecting of basic freedoms, human rights, citizenship, prosperity and well-being of people.
