Large-scale manufacturers confirm to maintain investment in Thailand

BANGKOK, November 26 (TNA) - Several large-scale multinational firms have confirmed to maintain their investment projects in Thailand, where flooding has been receding. Thai Deputy Prime Minister Kittirat Na-Ranong has acknowledged the confirmation of the large-scale firms, dismissing recent reports that some foreign investment projects have shifted their production base from Thailand to neighbouring countries due to this year's flooding. Kittirat, who is also Commerce Minister concurrently, said that recent relocations of some firms to other neighbouring countries were planned prior to Thailand's inundations, as part of their normal regional investment expansion plans. The deputy premier also insisted that minimum wages set for local workers are considered appropriate, announcing that the Thai government will consider extending promotional privileges or investment incentives for flood-affected investment projects whose production has been temporarily suspended.
