Security being tightened ahead of Navratras at Katra
Jammu, Sep 26 (PTI) Security is being beefed up at Katra,
the base camp of the Vaishnodevi cave shrine, in view of the
forthcoming Navratra festival with the police planning to
install C.C.T.V.s at important locations across the holy town.
Inspector General of Police (I.G.P.), Jammu zone, K.
Rajendra who reviewed the security situation yesterday, said
it was being planned to install Close Circuit Televisions at
all vital points in the town to foil the designs of the
militants.
He also asked hotel owners to install such cameras in
their hotels to keep a tab on the movement of people.
The famous Navratra festival begins on September 30.
Chairing a Police Community Partnership Group (P.C.P.G.)
meeting, the I.G.P. reviewed the security scenario and
discussed necessary steps to ensure smooth celebrations during
the forthcoming festival.
Pointing out that religious places are targeted by
anti-social elements on such occasions, he asked the P.C.P.G.
to be extra vigilant and launch an awareness campaign
regarding the presence and movement of suspicious elements in
and around the holy town.
He directed everyone concerned to take the required steps
to make the event successful by providing all types of
facilities to the visiting pilgrims.
