Prince Saud participates in meeting of education initiative 2 New York
Prince Saud pointed out that the Kingdom announced at the
extraordinary Islamic summit held in Makkah in 2005 allocation of $1
billion for combating illiteracy in the OIC's member states as well
as donation of $500 million as soft loans for education in the
developing countries through the Saudi fund for development.
He noted that the Kingdom, since 2006, has been donating $44 million
annually for meeting the fees and prices of books for the students of
the official schools in Lebanon in addition to extending recently $2
million to the Palestinian educational fund.
Prince Saud underlines the importance of education as regards the
sustainable development. He added that efforts exerted to help the
developing countries in facing the problems of financing educational
projects will yield positive results as regards realizing social and
economic development.
