GCC Foreign ministers, foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and US hold meeting 2 Washington
The statement called for stopping the Israeli settlement policy in
the occupied territories.
As regards Lebanon, the ministers reiterated their support to
Lebanon's security and sovereignty and welcomed the election of
Michel Suleiman as the president of the country.
They also welcomed the talks recently held between Syria and Lebanon.
Moreover, the ministers underscored the importance of the compliance
of Iran to the international atomic energy agency (IAEA), and voiced
support to the rights of navigation at Hermuz strait.
The ministers reiterated their support to Iraq's national unity,
independence and regional safety. The ministers underlined the importance of such meetings which include the representatives of the GCC member states, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq and the US.
The meetings will be held every six months alternately in the
participant countries. The ministers welcomed the possibility of holding the meeting earlier 2009 in Baghdad.
