Seif al-Islam Gadhafi tries to use a fake name to avert arrest, says Libyan troops

ZINTAN (A.A) - The son of late Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi, Seif al-Islam Gadhafi, was recently arrested by the forces of the Libyan National Transitional Council in Sebha region in southern Libya. Speaking to the AA, soldiers Ahmad Amir and Ajmelati al-Atar said that they were proud and happy to have arrested Seif al-Islam Gadhafi. Seif al-Islam Gadhafi was scared at the moment of his arrest, said Amir. "We received intelligence that there was an important person in the region. We learned that this individual would travel at night. When we stopped a vehicle, we found out that the person in the vehicle was Seif al-Islam Gadhafi. He tried to deceive us by using a fake name. However, we recognized him," Amir said. Seif al-Islam Gadhafi was afraid of us. I tried to speak with him and lower his tension. We arrested him on Friday night. Yet we spoke with him until we arrived in Zintan on Saturday afternoon, Amir said. Three fingers of Seif al-Islam Gadhafi were severed. Everyone thinks that we were the ones who cut off his fingers. This is not true. Gadhafi himself said that his fingers were severed during a NATO attack, Amir said. We asked Seif al-Islam Gadhafi many questions but did not receive much response. Gadhafi has closed his eyes to everything, Amir also said. Al-Atar, in his part, said that Gadhafi was in a good health condition at the time of his arrest. Gadhafi had a few thousand dollars with him when he was arrested and was accompanied by four individuals, al-Atar also said.
