Over Bt1bn needed to restore Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport
BANGKOK, November 18 (TNA) - Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) has assessed that some one billion baht is needed for the restoration of Bangkok's flood-hit Don Mueang Airport, formerly Thailand’s main international airport.
Flying Officer Anirudh Thanomkulbutr said that most of the rehabilitation fund will be sponsored by AOT; while the remaining 489 million baht will be financed by a state budget.
According to the AOT president, AOT will first restore western runways of the Don Mueang Airport, used by official flights, and will later rehabilitate its commercial runways and others.
Meanwhile, AOT and the Suvarnabhumi Airport are jointly launching public campaigns, through VDO clips showing normal airport operations sent to international travel agents and foreign embassies, to ensure proper understanding and confidence among international travellers that aviation services of Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport have not been affected by flooding.
