MINISTER ASKS FOR BEST POSSIBLE SERVICE FOR WOMEN, CHILDREN
Jakarta, Sept 27 (ANTARA) - Women and children should be given the best possible service in this year's Idul Fitri exodus, State Minister for Women's Empowerment Meutia Hatta said here on Saturday.
"We welcome all parties who can give first priority to children and women in the Idul Fitri exodus this year," Meutia said at a function themed "Boyscout Cares for Lebaran" at the Senen railway station in Central Jakarta.
Therefore, she said, all parties should cooperate to manage the millions of people who would make long journeys home for the Idul Fitri festivity.
"The mass rush to home towns or villages for the Idul Fitri holidays is an annual tradition that we have to manage together," the minister said.
Hatta made the statement during a visit to the Senean railway station to observe the management of the flow of Idul Fitri train passengers and have a dialog with some of them.
On the occasion the minister was accompanied by Boy Scout Task Force chief Parni Hadi, Boy Scout Movement National Quarters (Kwarnas) chief Azrul Azwar, and Senen Station Master Barosad.
In its Boy Scout Cares for Lebaran initiative, the Boy Scout Movement's National Quarters has set up Idul Fitri travelers' assistance "command posts" (poskos) in 16 cities and towns across the country.
