Baghdad (NINA) - Prime Minister, Nouri Al Maliki, called for increasing investment and trade cooperation between Iraq and Austria. He said, during a meeting with Austrian Foreign Minister, Michael Spindelegger, and the delegation accompanying him, "we are a rich country with many riches, but, this wealth was spent to buy weapons, then, destroy them in wars, and destroy the infrastructure with them. Therefore, Iraq’s situation now is not a rich country’s situation." the statement issued by Maliki's office mentioned that during the meeting, the regional situation and the events taking place were discussed, indicating that Maliki stressed that "Iraq’s policy bases on non-interference in the affairs of other countries, support the demands of peoples to get freedom and democracy, and strive to have peaceful changes in the region to preserve its security and stability For his part, the Austrian Foreign Minister said he speaks on behalf of the European Union "we want Iraq to be stable, and becomes a center for trade in the Middle East."
