Two Industrial Sites In Bangkok Foreseen To Be Safe From Floods

BANGKOK, November 13 (TNA) - Thai Industry Minister Wannarat Channukul said Sunday he believes that two major industrial sites in the outskirts of Bangkok, the Bang Chan and the Lat Krabang Industrial Estates, will be safe from floods. Dr. Wannarat told reporters that the water situation at the Bang Chan Industrial Estate has remained under control, as water levels in nearby Kratiam and Lo Lae Canals have dropped by five and two centimetres respectively; while more machines to drain and push out water have also been installed at the Lat Krabang Industrial Estate. Dr. Wannarat insisted he, therefore, believes that the two major industrial estates in the capital will not be flooded as earlier feared. The industry minister also echoed an assessment by Thai Public Health Minister Wittaya Buranasiri that several inundated industrial sites, especially those in the central Ayutthaya Province, can resume their operations by next month, saying that some of them are even expected to early resume their production by the end of this month. The industry minister acknowledged that some major Thai industrial sites, including the Rojana Industrial Park and the Saha Rattana Nakorn Industrial Estate in the central Ayutthaya Province, as well as the Navanakorn Industrial Promotion Zone and the Bang Kradi Industrial Estate in Bangkok's suburban Pathum Thani Province, have remained highly-submerged by floodwater.
