Thai authorities asked to stop falling rubber prices
SATUN, November 12 (TNA) - Rubber farmers in Thailand's southern Satun Province have appealed for state assistance to stop falling prices of natural rubber, or “Yang Para” in Thai.
Chamnan Mektrong, chair of the board of a Satun rubber plantation cooperatives fund, lodged the petition with the Satun Governor on Saturday, on behalf of the provincial rubber growers.
Chamnan said that rubber prices in Satun have plunged by nearly double so far, to 77.50 baht a kilogram now from 140 baht a kilogram on average.
Chamnan acknowledged that the continual drop of Satun's rubber prices, amid rising costs of living, have affected local rubber plantations, demanding that the governor forward the issue to the government for further consideration and solutions. (TNA)
