SAAB donates water filters and tents to flood victims in Thailand

BANGKOK, November 12 (TNA) - SAAB Company, a leading Swedish manufacturer of automobiles and industrial machines, has donated two top quality water filters and 300 tents for 4-6 persons each, totally worth some five million baht, to flood victims in Thailand. The donations from SAAB have been received by Putthipong Chaisaeng, chief advisor to Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit. The two 400-kilogram water filters can each produce 4,000 litres of clean water an hour, one filter will be installed at a temporary shelter inside the eastern Chonburi campus of the Institute of Physical Education, where there are now over 4,000 flood evacuees. SAAB executive Roger Pettersson said he has followed up Thailand's flood updates and has personally witnessed such a massive flood water beyond his earlier imagination, expressing his hope that the donations from his company will partly relieve hardships of the flood victims, who he believes will eventually get through the ongoing crisis, as Thai people are strong in mind by nature. The SAAB executive revealed that his company will also donate power generators to the Thai government later. (TNA)
