Thai army chief calls for unity to fight floods

BANGKOK, November 9 (TNA) - Thailand’s Army Commander-in-Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha urged all parties on Wednesday to collectively cope with the ongoing flooding crisis, insisting that the military is a government mechanism to quickly resolve inundations. Speaking after receiving donations for flood victims, General Prayuth dismissed reports that the military has criticized the government’s response to the flooding crisis, saying that it is not time for criticisms, as all parties have participated in and taken responsibility for resolving the flooding. The army chief suggested that all parties perform their duties the best and join forces in solving flood-related problems. General Prayuth acknowledged that the Thai military is satisfied with its roles in flood prevention and relief operations, with its four working groups for water management, personnel management, supplies of necessities and cooperation with other government agencies.
