BILL DELAYED, CHIEF JUSTICE MUST GO

The Golkar Party has failed in its apparent attempt to keep chief justice Bagir Manan in office, after the House of Representatives decided to delay passing the Supreme Court bill this month amid mounting public resistance.

DPR'S COMMISSION III INSISTS ON PASSING BILL ON SUPREME COURT

The House of Representatives (DPR)'s Commission III violated law making regulations in order to allow the retirement age of chief justice be extended to 70 years old. The Commission in charge of legal affairs yesterday suddenly insisted that the bill on Supreme Court be passed at a plenary meeting to be held today.

SOUTHERN ROUTE STILL ROUGH

Unlike the northern coastal route which is ready for home-bound travelers, the southern coastal route is still worrying. According to the Republika observation, the southern route of Central Java still has a lot of holes and obstacles. Although it is not as crowded as the northern coastal route, home-bound travelers from Jakarta, Bandung, Purwokerto and Yogyakarta usually take this route.

NUMBER OF HOME-BOUND TRAVELERS USING MOTORCYCLES DRASTICALLY INCREASES

The number of home-bound travelers using motorcycles during this year's Eid Fitr Muslim Holidays increases from last year. Last year, the number was two million people, and this time is 2.5 million. For the security sake, Transportation Minister Jusman Safeii Djamal asked the motorcyclists to stop every two hours.
