Maliki stresses: the importance of harmony, love between religions, staying away from the scourge of extremism

Baghdad (NINA) - Prime Minister, Nouri Al Maliki, stressed the importance of "love and harmony between religions and to stay away from the scourge of extremism." He said, during a meeting with Chairman of Council of Catholic Patriarch in the Middle East, Patriarch Mar Beshara Al Raee, and the delegation accompanying him, "the Lesion that threatens us all is the scourge of extremism which allows killing of human beings, does not exclude anyone, my hope and confidence in the followers of all religions will face up to the wave of extremism with a message of peace and forgiveness that all religions carry." Maliki said, according to a statement issued by his office "our responsibility is to maintain security, stability, and national unity in the country. All religions come from one source; which is spread of love, tolerance, peace and brotherhood." For his part, the Patriarch expressed solidarity with Iraq, and his gratitude to Maliki for his care and concern for the Iraqi Christians, and achieving their demands just like the other components of the Iraqi people. /End/
