Saudi Ports Authority President issues press statement 2 Jeddah

Dr. Bubshait said that the active movement in Jeddah Islamic Port as
well as the increase of import rates by traders are primarily due to
the increased economic growth this year, where the imports to Jeddah
Islamic Port reached 23 percent and economic growth rates increased
to 19 percent at the level of the Kingdom.

He also stressed that the Authority is eager to solve all problems
faced by traders and importers. The task of Jeddah Islamic Prot is to
receive and unload ships in addition to establish special relations
with regional and global liners.

Dr. Bubshait said that Jeddah Islamic Port has 58 quays with more
than 10,000 workers from public and private sectors and receives
5,000 ships annually. The delay in ships unloading as well as the
accumulation of containers are primarily due to other bodies'
procedural matters which Jeddah Islamic Port can not overcome.
