Thai PM assigns military to help flood victims
BANGKOK, October 15 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Saturday ordered the military to lend more assistance to flood victims and asked the Interior Ministry to check the list of people now staying at temporary shelters to make sure that everybody is safe.
Yingluck told journalists of the update after holding a meeting with military commanders and other agencies concerned at the government's flood relief centre, located at Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport.
Meanwhile, Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha inspected and boosted morale of military officers working to protect the Nava Nakorn Industrial Estate in Bangkok’s suburban Pathum Thani Province from possible floods.
Asked by journalists whether Bangkok would survive from the ongoing flooding disaster, General Prayuth conceded that areas outside barriers and those near the main Chao Phraya River might be affected. (TNA)
