Board terminates employment contract of MCOT president

BANGKOK, October 14 (TNA) - The executive board of MCOT Public Company Limited (MCOT), one of Thailand's leading media firms, resolved unanimously at its meeting on Thursday to terminate the employment contract of MCOT president Tanawat Wansom, citing performance inefficiency.
The unanimous decision by the MCOT's all seven board members will officially take effect on Nov 13, but Tanawat was told to stop working immediately.
MCOT Board Chairman Surapon Nitikraipoj told a news conference that the board meeting concluded that Tanawat had performed his duties in an unsatisfactory manner in accordance with the company's regulations.
MCOT, formerly the state-run Mass Communication Organisation of Thailand before it was listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) in 2004, runs the well-established Thai News Agency (TNA), modernine TV, radio MCOT nationwide network and other on-line news services. (TNA)
