PRESIDENT MEETS ANGELA MERKEL

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The State Head Ts.Elbegdorj has said he is satisfied with meeting with Germany's Chancellor Mrs Angela Merkel after their latest meeting in Lisbon, and wished her an enjoyable stay in Mongolia.
The President received her on Thursday in the Government House.
The State Head considered that this visit is paid on the high level not only from Germany but also from the EU “because Your policy and works in the European Union are in center of world's attention,” he said.
Ts.Elbegdorj said Mongolia is always thankful to Germany and its people for supporting the Mongolian government since the transition to the democracy and market economic system. Germany's politics and law trainings and an intellectual assistance have significantly contributed to strengthening of the democracy ib Mongolia, he added. He said he is glad that the countries have traditional relations and cooperation in historical, educational and cultural spheres, and that the countries have been helping each other.
In response, Mrs Merkel also mentioned about the meeting in Lisbon, and supported the President's words about the bilateral political cooperation that had great inpact on strengthening of the Mongolian democracy. She expressed a satisfaction with a confidence of Mongolia to be a long-term reliable partner of Germany.
Mrs Merkel underlined a readiness of Germany to expand the economic ties, and expressed a willingness to cooperate in boosting the economics and in distributing mineral wealth to public. Intensive development of economics based on mineral resources may have two major consequences, she said, which are destroying of environment and unequal distribution of mineral resources. She said Germany is ready to cooperate with Mongolia in these matters such as introducing the latest environmentally-friendly technologies and preparing specialists.
Mrs Merkel appreciated the "Third Neighbor" policy of Mongolia as well as achievement of Mongolia in strengthening the democracy, and congratulated Mongolia on chairing the Community of Democracies (CD).
During the meeting, the dignitaries discussed the cooperation in education. Ts.Elbegdorj said he put a proposal to Germany Ambassador to Mongolia to establish a Mongolia-Germany joint school. Mrs Merkel promised to pay attention to this issue.
A.Merkel highly spoke the President's moratorium on the capital punishment, and added that she is always ready to support any initiatives and proposals focused on ensuring the human rights and freedom.
