Doosan Heavy wins 305 bln won power equipment deal


SEOUL, Oct. 12 (Yonhap) -- Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., South Korea's leading power equipment maker, said Wednesday it had won a 305 billion won (US$260 million) contract to supply equipment for a new power plant to be built in the country.
Under the deal with state-run Korea Midland Power Co., Doosan Heavy will provide power equipment, including two gas turbines, by the end of 2013, the company said in a statement.
The power plant with a capacity of 515 megawatts will be built in the country's new administrative capital in South Chungcheong Province, called Sejong City.
Doosan Heavy also won a 170 billion won deal in July to build another power plant in South Korea.
Shares of Doosan Heavy were trading at 56,300 won on the Seoul bourse as of 1:45 p.m., down 0.88 percent.
