Gold sales drop in Thailand from floods
BANGKOK, October 11 (TNA) - Retail sales of gold across Thailand fell by 50 percent on Tuesday as the worst flooding in a decade continued to strike the country.
President of the Gold Traders Association Jitti Tangsitpakdee said gold sales in Ayutthaya, Nakhon Sawan, Ang Thong and Chai Nat provinces fell by over 50 percent as gold shops are forced to stop trading due to the inundation.
Jitti said the association has coordinated with its 800 gold-shop partners nationwide to protect their vicinities with sandbags and to relocate their commodities to high ground. (TNA)
