Yingluck and Abhisit join forces in solving flood

BANGKOK, October 11 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Tuesday met with Democrat Party Leader Abhisit Vejjajiva to discuss ways to handle flood situations.

Premier Yingluck met with the opposition leader at the government's relief operation centre for flood victims at Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport, where they discussed flood-preventive measures.

Earlier in the day, Abhisit also visited flood victims at a temporarily shelter in the Rangsit campus of Thammasat University in Pathum Thani Province.

Speaking to reporters afterward, Yingluck said the opposition leader has expressed his concerns about the availability of temporarily shelters and made enquires about the government’s flood-preventive measures. Yingluck said her government welcomes suggestions as it is now time for all parties to join together to fight against the floods.

Abhisit, meanwhile, said he made the visit on the responsibility of a Thai citizen. He assured that the Bangkok governor who is a member of his Democrat Party will give full cooperation to the Yingluck government in handling the flood crisis. (TNA)
