SEOUL, Sept. 25 (Yonhap) -- Microsoft Corp. plans to cut the price of the budget package of Xbox 360, its video game system, by nearly 15 percent in South Korea, the company's local unit said Thursday.
The price of the company's Xbox 360 Arcade package, which includes a single
controller, a 256- megabyte memory and five pre-installed games, will be lowered
from the current 299,000 won (US$257) to 259,000 won, starting next Thursday,
Microsoft Korea said. The package retails at $199.99 in the U.S.
The company also said it plans to release blockbuster software titles, such as
first-person shooter "Gears of War 2," role-playing game "Fable II" and arcade
driver "Fallout 3" by the end of the year.
The U.S. software and gaming giant introduced its latest game console Xbox 360
into the Korean gaming market in early 2006 and is currently competing with Sony
Corp.'s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Co.'s Wii.
