September
18 Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly
(SPA), sends a message of greetings to Chilean President Michelle Bachelet on the
occasion of the independence day of the country.
18 The (North) Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) says Premier Kim Yong-il on
Sept. 15 sent a message of greetings to Denzil Douglas, prime minister of St.
Kitts and Nevis, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the independence of
the country.
18 Yang Hyong-sop, vice president of the SPA Presidium, meets with the delegation
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia headed by State Secretary
Tsogtbaatar Damdin at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang.
18 Pak Kil-yon, vice minister of Foreign Affairs, leaves Pyongyang by air to
participate in the 63rd Session of the UN General Assembly.

18 A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in sports is signed between the
Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission of the DPRK (North Korea) and the
National Sports Commission of Laos at the People's Palace of Culture in

18 Kim Ki-nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, meets with the
delegation of the Chinese People's Daily headed by Secretary General Zhang Dexiu
at the Mansudae Assembly Hall.
18-19 A national public presentation of scientific and technological achievements
in the field of potato farming is held in Taehongdan County, Ryanggang Province,
to mark the 10th anniversary of the policy for supposedly effecting a successful
new era of potato farming set forth by the WPK.
19 The KCNA says the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign
Countries and the China-(North) Korea Friendship Association arranged a reception
in Beijing on Sept. 16 to mark the 50th anniversaries of the DPRK-China
Friendship Association and the China-(North) Korea Friendship Association.

19 A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry says the socialist country is restoring
its main nuclear reactor and is no longer interested in being removed from the
U.S. list of terrorism-supporting countries.
