HH the Heir Apparent Lays Foundation Stone for New Doha Port

Doha, October 10 (QNA) - HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani patronized on Monday the laying of foundation stone for the New Doha Port project in Mesaieed.
The ceremony was attended by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of the Emiri Diwan Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, HE Speaker of the Advisory Council, a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the country, as well as managers of companies contributing to the project.
After some verses from the Holy Qur'an were recited, Chairman of the HE Civil Aviation Authority and head of the project's steering committee Abdulaziz Mohammad al-Nuaimi delivered a speech in which he said that the event represents laying the foundation stone for one of the biggest projects in the country in the current period which is the New Doha Port.
HE al-Nuaimi quoted HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani as saying that comprehensive development is the main objective to achieve progress and prosperity for the citizens. which, he said, represented the base of the national vision that aims to turn the State of Qatar by 2030 into a developed country that can achieve sustainable development at all levels.
HE al-Nuaimi noted that moving steadily towards achieving that vision was a distinctive element of the State of Qatar among all other countries that were hit during the economic crisis, which encouraged the international community to recognize the trust and confidence in the Qatari wise leadership by entrusting Qatar to organize the World Cup the 2022, despite the frantic competition that accompanied the event.
He added that the New Doha Project is one of the most important mega-projects with an estimated budget of around QR 25.6 billion and built on an area of approximately 26.5 sq. km.
The project is expected to be completed and opened in February 2016 to be one of the most important and largest seaports in the region, HE al-Nuaimi noted.
Following the speech, a film on the project was presented by the project's manager Nabil al-Buainain. Then HH the Heir Apparent laid the foundation stone for the New Doha Port project. (QNA)
