Thai industrial park at risk of further flooding

BANGKOK, October 10 (TNA) - Thailand's Rojana Industrial Park said it is at risk of further flooding due to heavy rainfall, rising sea tide and water drainage from dams in the North.
Director of Rojana Industrial Park Public Company Limited Amra Charoengitwattanagun said Rojana Industrial Park is still at risk of further flooding, even though it tried to repair the flood prevention walls which were destroyed two days ago during the last round of flooding.
Factors that may cause further flooding include water drainage from dams in the North, heavy rain in the next week or two, and rising sea tide in the middle of the month.
The Industrial Park does not yet have an estimate of the damage caused by floods, but all activities in the Industrial Park have been halted.
However, Amra added that Rojana Industrial Park has insurance.
Meanwhile, Single Point Parts Public Company Limited said production at the Rojana Industrial Park was temporarily halted.
The company constructed sand embankment around the factory, evacuated all workers, and established a flood relief centre for the employees and their families at another factory in Wung Noi district of Ayutthaya.
The company added, however, that production continues as usual at the Indra Industrial Park in Singburi. (TNA)
