Thai police ordered to fully take care of flood-hit areas

BANGKOK, October 10 (TNA) - Thai Deputy Prime Minister Police Captain Chalerm Yubumrung said on Monday that he has instructed police to fully take care of flood-hit areas across the country, including assisting flood victims and commanding traffic, as well as preventing and cracking down crime.

Police Captain Chalerm told reporters that he has ordered police officers in flood-stricken provinces to work with governors and other authorities concerned to provide urgent or necessary assistance to local people, namely supporting evacuations of affected people.

The Thai deputy premier, who oversees the Royal Thai Police, revealed that he has also told part of police forces in non-flood-hit areas, including border patrol police, to temporarily station in all inundated provinces and work with local agencies concerned to provide full assistance to flood victims.

The deputy premier insisted that Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her new Pheu Thai Party-led administration has tried the best to ease and to address the country's widespread flooding, saying that the government has heeded all public opinions and complaints. (TNA)
