D-Day for PTT Energy Card hopefully on Dec 1

BANGKOK, October 8 (TNA) - PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), Thailand's largest petroleum firm, has announced that it will start issuing the so-called "PTT energy credit card" from December 1 this year, exclusively for public transport operators and drivers of natural gas for vehicles (NGV) across the country.
Chief Operating Officer (COO) for PTT’s Downstream Petrochemical Industry Nattachart Charuchinda said that PTT is now in the stage of seeking final approval for its new card scheme from Thai Energy Minister Pichai Naripthaphan.
Nattachart explained that no discount for the NGV retail price will be given to the PTT card holders in the initial stage, but after the restructuring of the NGV price under the country's energy plan involving an increase of the NGV price by some 50 satangs (0.5 baht) per kilogramme per month over a 12-month period, from 8.50 baht per kilogramme currently, the PTT card holders will enjoy a 4-month discount period of some 2 baht per kilogramme, meaning that the NGV price will remain at 8.50 baht per kilogramme.
Nattachart acknowledged that his company plans to issue some 100,000 PTT energy cards in the initial stage, possibly involving some 58,000 taxis, 1,600-1,700 three-wheeler ‘tuk-tuks’ and some 6,000 passenger buses run by the government's Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) and Transport Company Limited, but excluding motorcycle taxi operators and drivers who mostly use liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
The PTT senior official noted that the PTT energy card, which will be jointly launched with Krung Thai Bank Public Company Limited, could possibly have a monthly credit limit of some 2,000 baht, saying, however, that a final decision lies on the Energy Ministry. (TNA)
