Thailand's flood-related death toll rises to 252

BANGKOK, October 7 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Interior's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported on Friday that the country's flood-related fatalities have totalled 252 since late July; while three people have remained missing.

According to the updated official report, Thailand's ongoing flooding crisis has remained in 212 districts of 28 provinces in the northern, northeastern, eastern and central regions, affecting nearly 2.7 million people.

Meanwhile, Thai Defence Minister General Yuthasak Sasiprapa said that some 8,000 troops have been dispatched to assist the flood victims, and that he is also seeking cooperation from local police in relief operations in the flood-stricken areas. (TNA)
