Thai PM underscores priority on floods

BANGKOK, October 7 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has underscored her concerns over the country’s ongoing flooding peril, saying that she is now reconsidering her planned visits to neighbouring nations.

Yingluck told reporters on Friday that she will travel abroad if only necessary and each trip will be reduced to one day, possibly from afternoon until evening, focusing on economic cooperation issues, as Thailand is facing a flooding crisis and the whole Thai economy needs good care subsequently with sound cooperation with neighbouring economies.

Since assuming her premiership in August, the first female Thai leader has already made one-day official visits to five member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), namely Brunei, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, to introduce her Pheu Thai Party-led administration.
