BP-AZERBAIJAN HOLDS PUBLIC DISCUSSIONS ON CHIRAG OIL PROJECT
Baku,24 September,(AzerTAj)Bp-Azerbaijan held public meeting on the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for Chirag oil project included to Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli deposits in Azerbaijan sector of Caspian Sea with Azerbaijan International Operating Company, on September 23. Oil will be extracted from 175- meter depths, Ilgar Mammadov, the bp-Azerbaijan Project Director said.
Construction works will be launched in 2008. Production, however, will be started
from 2013. About 331 million barrels of oil is expected to be produced within the
project.
According to Ilgar Mammadov, the project is expected to be implemented close to
deep-water Guneshli platform and completed in 2008. The project will be submitted to
the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources to estimate its ecological aspects
within 60 days.
