SPEAKER VISITS STATE CENTRAL LIBRARY


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ On Wednesday, the Speaker legged the State Central Library (SCL).
Its director Kh.Chilaajav said they worked out a strategic plan together with specialists of Ministry of Education and with international organizations and submitted it to the Ministry. Now, the library is getting prepared for introducing an online service and transferring into digital system. "To do this, we need 91 librarians, we can not enrich the library due to financial problems," he said.
The SCL was founded November 19 in 1921, has five sections and 76 specialists. The building was erected in 1947 with a capacity of storing 500 thousand books, "now we have four million books, one million of them are of big size and weight". "We can not keep and store rare books and notes," Chilaajav said and asked the Speaker to help with a new building and with passing a new law on a status of the SCL.
In turn, the Speaker promised to give financial aid to the library for constructing an annex and ordered the authorities to draw up its plan and select a proper location. The Speaker also said that he will order the cabinet to allot money for the repaire and for the new annex.
Then D.Demberel saw rare books and met the library experts and bibliographers.
